Alan Cherkas has spent over 25 years working as a deal originator in the North American energy industry, specializing in natural gas, LNG, electricity, renewable electricity, carbon offset, and renewable natural gas markets. He started his energy career with Westcoast Energy (a subsidiary of Enbridge), spent fourteen years working in the USA (for DTE Energy, Duke Energy, & Fortis Bank), and spent over ten years working as a regional Vice President for Shell Energy North America in Canada. In those roles he has supported the development, acquisition, and divestment of many significant energy infrastructure assets and has helped multiple customers manage their energy commodity needs. Currently, Alan works for Direct Energy (North American subsidiary of Centrica) as a Senior Originator within the wholesale commercial organization, helping to manage the company’s energy risk portfolio and supporting customer activity aimed at growing low carbon energy solutions through the development of low emitting energy infrastructure projects.
