Omar Masud is Deputy Treasurer at Ontario Power Generation (OPG) where he leads the team responsible for structuring, sourcing and optimizing funding needs of the organization. In addition, his team manages credit, liquidity, and market risk by developing policies and reporting to ensure risks remain within established parameters. Omar also has the primary responsibility of managing key external stakeholders including banks, rating agencies, investors, and government financing entities.

Prior to joining OPG, Omar played a leading role in managing and overseeing various aspects of Treasury at major financial institutions. These included managing funding, interest rate risk and FX exposures at Wealthsimple; raising debt in North American, European, and Australian markets as well as managing liquidity for TD Bank; and playing a pivotal role in managing trading risk at Scotiabank and Bank of Montreal.

Omar holds a Bachelors of Business Informatics from McMaster University and a Masters of Finance from Queens University. In addition, Omar also has the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designations.

Outside of work Omar is passionate about mentorship and enabling equal opportunities for all. He has held various roles as board member and executive member of mentorship committees and food banks.
