Richard Jokiel is the General Manager of the Real Estate group within Canada Post responsible for the overall management, operations, acquisition and dispositions, property improvement and environmental reporting and climate goal objectives of the Canada Post Real Estate portfolio. The real estate portfolio consists of approximately 3000 properties with over 20M sqft of operational and administrative space. Planning for longer term operational requirements while addressing near term portfolio demands are key challenges and have been accelerated in the past few years as a result of a rapidly shifting ecommerce market and hybrid work model. Industrial property values, scarcity of land/building in key locations and the cost of construction related activities are creating many challenges and opportunities as we move forward. Asset improvements vs replacement, buy vs lease, land acquisition, climate goals, etc… are all key considerations and strategies that must be addressed in our rapidly changing environment.
