Brian O’Donnell is a Senior Vice President in Northern Trust Asset Management’s Funds and Managed Accounts Group. He serves as Head of Business Strategy, Enablement and Administration.

Brian develops strategy to accelerate profitable growth, refine overall distribution effectiveness, drive expansion into new client channels and segments, optimize the institutional FlexShares ETF distribution support model and enhance the firm’s business intelligence through the increased utilization of data and analytics.

Brian has more than two decades of investment management industry experience. He joined Northern Trust Asset Management from BlackRock, with an extensive track record of developing successful distribution strategies across intermediary, institutional and international channels. His experience includes leading BlackRock’s Liquidity effort, Institutional and RIA Distribution for BlackRock and iShares, as well as being an instrumental component in helping to launch iShares ETFs to the APAC marketplace.

Brian leads two distinct teams at Northern Trust Asset Management. His FlexShares Institutional team focuses on ETF opportunities with Northern Trust’s Institutional clients including corporations, pensions, foundations, endowments, insurance companies, asset managers and international asset owners. The Business Intelligence team Brian leads is responsible for business strategy, sales enablement, analytics and reporting. In this capacity Brian is responsible for identifying attractive new client segments and international opportunities for FlexShares ETFs, as well as enhancing client segmentation and sales efficiency to drive e-distribution, develop client affinity programs, expand competitive analytics, improve data utilization and reporting for Northern Trust Asset Management.

Brian received his BS in Finance from The University of Colorado at Boulder.
