Don joined CalSTRS in 2008. He is responsible for managning a $20 billlion international portfolio of life science and office assets. Geographic regions include the U.S., U.K., and Asia.
In 2015 Don initiated CalSTRS pivotal move into the life science sector with the acquisition of approximately 50% of the East Cambridge development site that is now known as Cambridge Crossing (“CX”). With assets acquired, developments completed and with commitments to new developments, CalSTRS is approaching 15 millon square feet of life science investments.
Don brings deep asset level experience and connectivity due to a career pathway that includes hands-on experience at the leasing, property management, asset management, portfolio management and ground-up development levels.
Prior to joining CalSTRS, his private sector experience inlcuded leasing, asset management and property management positions with Cushman & Wakefield, the Archon Group, CB Richard Ellis, and his own investment / asset management firm, Avalon Pacific Realty.
