As Director of Pension Governance at Unifor, Canada’s largest private sector Union and serving through prior roles involving pension and benefits negotiation, strategy and policy advocacy, Sandeep Kakan’s primary focus has been towards defending worker rights, challenging inequality and securing a brighter future for Union members through economic fairness, resiliency and workplace protections. Aside from his regular Union duties, Mr. Kakan also acts as Board Secretary and Trustee at CWIPP and Drug Advocate Committee member at WSIB. Mr. Kakan has appeared at the Senate of Canada to support the passing of the Pensioner Protection Act. He has also appeared in many publications. Mr. Kakan has broad experience in research, public policy, negotiations, stakeholder engagement and risk management.
