Jen Angel is a builder of community, momentum and places people love. She is CEO of Evergreen, a national not for profit that works with public, private and community partners to reimagine public places in cities across the country, and then get our hands dirty to help make them -and make them work harder - for people and planet. For more than 30 years, Evergreen has been bringing people together with nature and each other in the city.

Prior to Evergreen, Jen helped create some of Nova Scotia’s best loved places by land and sea, leading the teams at crown corporations Develop Nova Scotia and Waterfront Development Corporation. She is currently Placemaking Fellow with the Canadian Urban Institute and has served on a number of community-facing Boards, including Discover Halifax (Chair), United Way Halifax (Director and Chair of the Strategic Fundraising Cabinet), Downtown Halifax Business Commission (Chair), the International Women’s Forum, the National Executive Forum on Public Property (Executive Committee), the YWCA Women’s Leadership Collaborative, Taste of Nova Scotia, and Ignite Atlantic among them.

Her professional portfolio includes real estate, infrastructure and program development and governance, participatory planning and design. She holds an MBA (Marketing), a BA (Philosophy) and ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She was recognized in Atlantic Business Magazine's Top 50 CEOs in Atlantic Canada 2021 and 25 Most Powerful Women in 2022. She received the Inaugural Wije’winen Allyship Award from the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre in 2022, and the Spirit of Halifax Award for impact on the Halifax region. She is a co-founder of the Art of City Building, an international conference that brings place leaders from around the world together in Halifax.
