David Ross, Managing Director of the Capital Markets Group (CMG) at OPTrust, has close to 25 years of experience within financial markets. Prior to his current role, David was the Senior Director of the FX & Fundamental Macro Strategies desk within CMG. Prior to joining OPTrust in October 2016, David spent 10 years at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in Toronto. He served 8 of those years as a Portfolio Manager, pursuing discretionary Global Macro value-added strategies on the Global Opportunities desk and most recently as co-manager of the Emerging Markets Fixed Income & FX desk within the FICC group, where responsibilities included value-added strategies and management of the Fund’s beta allocation to Emerging Market debt.
Prior to Teachers’, David worked for the independent research firm 4CAST Ltd, initially as a Fixed Income Strategist in the Latin American Market Strategy group in New York and latterly as Senior Analyst, Emerging European Market Strategy, managing a team of 4 analysts in the London, UK office. Prior to that David spent just under three years in a Country Risk & Strategies group at the Royal Bank of Canada, Toronto, first as an analyst covering the Middle East & Africa region and later as Manager of Country Risk for the Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa Region.
David has a B.A., Economics from the University of Western Ontario, an M.A., Economics from the University of Toronto. David is a CFA Charterholder since 2006.
