Asif Haque leads the CAAT Pension Plan’s public markets investment team, which is responsible for public fixed income, equity, absolute return, currency, hedging and overlay strategies. He has 22 years of industry experience.
The CAAT Pension Plan has net assets of $10.8 billion, available to pay pension benefits to 46,000 members and their families, and has 41 participating employers. The Plan is focused on the security of pension benefits, the stability of contributions, and equity among groups and generations of members. At its January 1, 2018, valuation, the Plan is 118% funded on a going-concern basis and has $2.3 billion in funding reserves.

Rainer Kaufmann

Rainer manages the Fixed Income, Liquidity and Credit group within Capital Markets. He joined OPTrust in 2015 to help begin the transition to internal management of Capital Markets investing activities including bond, fixed income derivatives, and repo trading. His group manages the Beta bond, credit, and liquidity money market portfolios in addition to Alpha portfolios in each.
Rainer started his career in Derivatives and has worked for buy and sell-side firms in Toronto and New York. He received his MBA degree from McGill University and a B.Sc. (Engineering Chemistry) from Queens University.

Erwan is a senior member of the manager research team and plays a crucial role in supporting the Investment Consulting practice. Erwan has a particular focus on fixed income and liability-driven investments. He researches a wide range of fixed income products from Canadian bonds to global and high yield bonds. He also has experience of structuring solutions with derivatives.
Before joining Aon Hewitt in 2007, Erwan was a credit analyst at Barclays in London and served as a fixed-income security portfolio co-manager. Erwan has a Master’s degree in corporate finance from Université de Rennes (France).

Ray Tanveer
Vice President, Interest Rates and Inflation

Ray joined HOOPP in 2007 and has been responsible for actively managing the Plan’s $45 Billion fixed income and inflation-linked bond portfolios ever since. He began his HOOPP career as Portfolio Manager, Derivatives & Fixed Income and progressed to his current position as Vice President, Interest Rates & Inflation. He helped expand the Plan’s trading capabilities into international fixed income, inflation and rate derivatives markets and has been a consistent generator of Alpha over the years.
Ray also advises the Asset Mix Committee on decisions involving the Plan’s Liability Hedge Portfolios and has been actively involved in all market transitions which successfully evolved the Plan into incorporating a Liability Driven Investing (LDI) approach for its portfolio.

Terri Troy recently retired as CEO of the Halifax Regional Municipality Pension Plan. She has more than 25 years of experience in investment management, pensions, corporate strategy, and mergers and acquisitions. As CEO of the Halifax Regional Municipality Pension Plan, she transformed the governance structure, investment strategy, and customer service function between 2006-2017. Innovative investment strategies implemented included factor investing, portable alpha, and a significant emphasis on private investments including co-investments, syndications/club deals with other large institutional investors, and direct investments, etc. While CEO, Terri was a Board member of Calon Energy, a UK based energy company and a Board member of Alignvest Management, a Canadian financial services corporation. She was a member of Investor Advisory Committees for various global private investments including UK, European and US private equity; UK, Australian and Canadian infrastructure; European, UK, Asian, US and Canadian real estate; and European, UK, and US private debt.
Prior to the CEO role, Terri was responsible for the investment strategy for RBC’s 33 global pension plans between 2000-2006. Prior to RBC, Terri held various roles at CIBC including corporate strategy, mergers & acquisitions, and wealth management.
Terri has held various leadership roles in the pension industry including being a Board Member of the Pension Investment Association of Canada from 2004-2009; Chair of the Board in 2007, Chair of the Investment Practices Committee 2004-2009, Chair of the Government Relations Committee, 2010-2011 and a member of the International Limited Partnership’s Association’s Education Committee 2016-2018.
Over the course of her career, Terri has received many awards including the Leading Pension Plan Sponsor Award in 2011 and the Top 25 Most Influential Plan Sponsors in 2009 & 2010. Terri has an MBA from York University and an HBBA from Wilfrid Laurier. She also holds the CFA charter and is currently enrolled in the Institute of Corporate Directors course at Rotman.
